Hi Liesbet, Bravo! It’s a gorgeous cover! It makes me want to be there. The beauty of the water and nature will capture people’s attention. The dogs swimming will attract the attention of dog lovers.
Hi Lea! I initially had another scene – more boat-focused – in mind for the front cover, but my husband suggested this one with our previous dogs, in the Bahamas. It resembles the content, surroundings, and title better. We added the wheel behind the subtitle to indicate the nautical element.
Looks great, Liesbet! The colors and photo background are very cheerful and draw the reader into your intriguing life! (That “desert island” alone would entice me to read!)
Hi Lexie! Thanks for your feedback. I’m glad you like what we came up with. The island in the background was photographed in Panama, in a area called the San Blas Islands. Lisa might have told you about it, although I don’t think they visited them before your meet-up.
Hi Jacqui! I’m glad you like the cover. This was a very special scenario, when I swam from our boat to a sandbank ashore in the Bahamas, with our two dogs. I’m so glad now that Mark took this photo, or my cover would have looked very different. 🙂
Thank you for your feedback, Hilary! I really appreciate it. While it might not look like it, the process to reach this particular concept took longer than I expected. Lots of moving parts. 🙂
Goed gezien.
Thanks, Terri! I like the simple look as well. The alternative – with our sailboat in the photo – made it a bit too “crowded” and more complicated. Clean and simple is good! I also like the nautical nudge with the helm behind the subtitle. 🙂
Yeah… I’m somewhat of an over-thinker and perfectionist. With some things. 🙂 That makes projects a bit more challenging and time consuming, but it’s the only way (for me) to be happy with the results.
Liesbet, fantastic work! A book cover that will apeal and intice people into wanting to know more. I also love the book title. I can already think of friends who would enjoy your book and it will make for a perfect Christmas gift. I am looking forward to publishing date.
You are too kind, Gilda! I hope you will like the story as much as the cover. Every single step in this process has been a chunk of work, patience, and determination. I had a cover artist merge all the “pieces” I desired (except our sailboat) into this final version of my book cover. I’m hoping to release Plunge the end of November. Fingers crossed!
Hi Liesbet! How exciting. That photo is gorgeous and fits the title so well. Every step is putting you closer and closer to your dream. How AWESOME! ~Kathy
It is becoming real, Kathy. At this point, I can’t wait to get the “darn thing” released and focus on more fun pursuits. 🙂 I say that with love, of course. Very fittingly, as I write this reply to you, I am sitting on a catamaran driving down the channel in Virginia. It feels good to be on the water again.
Thank you, Suz. I can’t wait for people (other than myself and Mark) to start reading. Actually, I can’t wait to open that cover up one day, once I order my first proof copy! 🙂
Hi Duwan! Thank you. I’m glad you like this final cover version (which is actually a combination of two photos) and the fonts. I’ll show you the “procession” of ideas and creations whenever we meet up. If you’re interested… 🙂
Hi Kim! Fancy seeing you here. 🙂 Thanks so much for swinging by and leaving a comment. Love it! I wish we could have shared one of those labels (well, the contents anyway) this past summer… Next time we’re in the hood! Xx
Now that is a book cover few will be able to resist! I think it turned out brilliantly Liesbet. Wonderful to see you making such progress. One step closer to me being able to read it!
Hi Sue! Thank you for your kind words and continued enthusiasm for Plunge. I’m slowed down now, being back on the road, but I still hope to have the book launched by the end of November. 🙂
Hi Erica! I’m glad you like the cover. A lot of thought and back and forth with my cover designer went into it. While not exactly what I had in mind, I’m happy with the result.
Hi Debby! Thank you so much for the enthusiasm and the support. I really appreciate you sharing all my posts and achievements as well. You’re the best!!!
Thanks you, Sally. I will certainly let you know. I still haven’t gotten a chance to come up with a promotion and marketing plan, but I do have you in the back of my mind. You always have an interesting topic in the running, so I’ll be sure to provide a unique story. 🙂
Ha, Jude. What a wonderful observation! I had no idea of the “plunging effect” of the reveal image. We tried to create a wavy feeling, but you’re right on.
We have been perpetual nomads since 2003 – sailing, camping, RVing, house and pet sitting – and are currently roaming about South America in a truck camper with our rescue dog, Maya. As lifetime adventurers, we are self-employed and maintain a tight budget. This blog is about all that – and more – to inspire a life less ordinary. Don’t dream but do! 🙂

We were supposed to meet them there! Now that I see that blissful scene, I really wish it could have worked out!
October 22, 2020 at 13:46
Next time!:-) By the way, the scene in the foreground (me and the dogs) is closer to home: the Bahamas… That might be feasible sooner!
October 21, 2020 at 10:32
Well that’s a winner. I can’t wait to hear about you swimming with your gorgeous dogs in the ocean.

October 23, 2020 at 05:36
I’m sure it’s going to do just that, Liesbet. I can see you’ve put a lot of thought into it.
