Taking our new fridge out for the tenth time in order to fix its problem
We have been perpetual nomads as RVers, sailors, house and pet sitters, and overlanders since 2003. Currently, the three of us are roaming about South America in our truck camper Thirsty Bella.
As lifetime adventurers, we are self-employed and maintain a tight budget. This blog is about all that – and more – to inspire a life less ordinary. Don’t dream but do! 🙂

Looks like our Isotherm (Indel Webasto). May I ask what hind of problems? What is that funnel like thing next to the ventilator/fan?

Hi there,
Yes, our fridge is the same one, an Isotherm. Ever since we bought it new, we’ve had issues maintaining the temperature inside the fridge and bringing the temperature down to where it should be. We’ve tried pretty much everything to distribute the cool air better (by adding a small fan inside the fridge), adding an external fan with duct on the outside to provide better airflow around the compressor, making sure there is enough ventilation around the box and installation, changing the thermostat (a big job), and most recently, adjusting the resistance so the compressor runs hard enough.
Good eye about the “funnel”. That’s the external fan and “duct” to guide the hot air outside. The contraption is usually mounted higher in the cabinet, but had to be temporarily attached to the fridge to be able to move it out of the cabinet. Hope this makes sense. 🙂
