A Life Less Ordinary

Then and Now – Relaxation

I am a couple of days late for my Wordless Wednesday post and WordPress photo theme of the week, which was “relax“. The reason: my first Wednesday of every month is devoted to a writing update as part of the Insecure Writer’s Support Group. The advantage of my delay is that I can add this theme to my Friday “Then and Now” series, and that the weekend is already upon us; time to relax!

  1. It took me a minute to figure it out, but you travel with your own hammock — how cool is that?

On nice days, my favourite way to relax is to take a long walk on a beach or a hike through the woods. Other days, I like to draw, read or write (preferably while drinking a hot cup of coffee and eating freshly baked cookies or brownies).

    Have a great weekend!

    • We actually have two hammocks, one stringy one from Mexico and the cloth one from Guatemala. They were two of the things we brought back with us from Irie, together with my ergonomic pillow and our two sleeping bags. As you can tell from that, there was not much room for other belongings in our bags. 🙂 I like walking and hiking as well, but, when strenuous, it is not very relaxing. You have very beneficial and productive ways to relax, Stephanie. I love freshly baked goods!

  2. So much sunshine in these photos! My favorite way to relax is with a good book that I have been looking forward to reading, or watch a favorite TV show or movie.

    • I agree. Reading or watching something from a comfy couch, or bed, is very relaxing! With that comment, I hope to finally start a book today, since it is raining. It has been almost a year since I read a book for fun!

  3. I feel very relaxed just looking at these photos. They make me want a hammock. Glad you site is back up and running.

    • Hammocks are great, but they do get uncomfortable after a while. We barely used it onshore while traveling. Mostly, because we forgot or we were too lazy to string it up. Sitting on a sarong on the beach is easier. Until the bugs or the relentless sun chased us back to the shade of the boat. 🙂 Glad the site is up again as well. Unfortunately, the damage is done. The timing was extremely unfortunate! 🙁

  4. Aww, you do look happy 🙂 🙂

  5. Oh my look at all that wonderful sunshine! I will admit I am terrible at relaxing. In all honesty it is something I am working on. Reading is often my best form of relaxation or if on a beach holiday. I do like a snooze in a hammock although the current out door conditions likely wouldn’t be too relaxing. 🙂

    • There must be a spot indoors where you could string a hammock, Sue? 🙂 To be honest, we (I) are pretty bad at relaxing as well – how can you when there is always so much to do (and the head is always busy), and so much to see when time and work permits? It took me hours to even find these photos of our relaxing poses. We either rarely relaxed, or we just didn’t take photos of it! 🙂

  6. Nice collection of relaxing moments… The red hammock clearly a constant 🙂

Hmmm to relax I like to …. sketch, water the garden, play with a dog or cat, watch a movie.

  7. These are all great! Do I gather from a comment above that you had a problem with your site? I couldn’t get into it when this first came out so that would explain why.

    • Yeah, massive problem that was out of our hands and long lasting (our host server was “broken” for 16 hours, so the business website was down as well), on the one day I expected some extra traffic from an interview with us that was published that day… 🙁 The timing couldn’t have been worse. It makes me hate our reliability on the internet!

  8. Oh no – glad it’s fixed now at any rate.

This is the place where conversation is made. Please, join in!
