A Life Less Ordinary

Join Us at the Virtual Vanlife Summit – An Entertaining, Inspiring & Free Event

A free three-day event packed with information, talks, and interactions

Tomorrow, the three-day Virtual Vanlife Summit begins and I am one of the speakers and live panelists. My talk takes place on Thursday, July 21st at 12pm PDT (US West Coast time), which is 9pm in Belgium (where I currently am) and focuses on living on a budget while on the road. I will happily answer any questions you have in the chat box.

Talk about living as a nomad on a budget

The next day, on Friday, July 22nd at 11am PDT, I join a live panel in which we will discuss relationships on the road. How do we survive living together 24/7 with our partner in a tiny space without killing each other? Again, ask us any question during the broadcast.

This entire event is free, but you have to register to attend. Check it out and sign up here. I hope to “see” you there!

Probably our most asked question after we retired was, “Are you getting on each other’s nerves yet?” We laugh at that question and get along fine, but our house is bigger than your van. ????

    • Haha. I’m sure your house is bigger than our camper. I’m glad you two are getting along just fine! Mark and I have a lot of practice being together “forever” in small spaces. I do know that when couples retire, it’s not always easy to adjust to this new habitation situation. In quite a few cases, it doesn’t work out… We have met many senior couples that are in a new relationship since retirement.

  4. How exciting! I hope your talks go well! I’ll pass on your link to a couple of my friends who have expressed interest in ‘van life’. 🙂

  5. Congratulations, Liesbet! Super exciting! What a wonderful way to share your experience and help others.

  6. Liesbet, The summit sounds like an exciting and fun event. I hope you’re having a wonderful time in Belgium and great success at the summit.

    • Thank you, Anonymous! 🙂 The Summit was fin to join, but the technical difficulties I experienced created some extra stress and annoyance, unfortunately. My time in Belgium has been wonderful!

  7. I hope it all went well, Liesbet. I’m sure it did.

    • Thanks, Hugh. Unfortunately, there were technical difficulties. Not a big deal in itself as I managed to keep coming back after getting disconnected in the live event, but the fact that my participation looked very unprofessional because of this bugs me.

  8. I had no idea there was such a large network of roamers who write. Obviously, technology keeps you all wired and connected. Thanks, Liesbet!

    • Hi Marian!

Yes, Vanlife is a big thing. We have seen the difference on the road, even before Covid. Honestly, when I look at this bunch of nomads and RVers, what we do is not that special. 🙂

  9. Yay for you Liesbet. I hope it went well and you had the time to plug your book which fits perfectly with this. <3

    • Hi Debby!

The event in itself was fun, but it didn’t quite go the way I had in mind. Technical difficulties (this entire year has been a renegade!) and no option to communicate with the audience (for me) or plug my book in the live event, which focused on relationships in small spaces, one of Plunge’s themes. Oh well.

      • Oh no! What a disappointment with such a ripe opportunity! Have you thought of doing some podcast videos on your own? That’s what I’m working on now. <3

        • Podcasts are too much work (and a new skill to develop) and – in my opinion and in my case – probably not worth it. I don’t have the following you have on your blog or that other podcasters have with their followers. I have participated in podcasts and will again in the future. One with the person who organized this Vanlife event. I agree that that’s a better chance to plug my book at the end of the broadcast.

          • I hear you. And heaven knows you undoubtedly wouldn’t have the time either.

            • That, too. I have so many ideas and I don’t ever get to them because of a lack of time – and different priorities, like… life. It’s frustrating sometimes, only having 24 hours a day.

This is the place where conversation is made. Please, join in!
